The annual Holiday Stroll has become a family favorite for New Canaan residents and those of our neighboring towns. Held on the weekend after Thanksgiving on December 5th and 6th, downtown New Canaan transforms into something out of a Dickens’s story book. Friday night kicks off with the arrival of Santa Claus, a lighting of the trees, carol singing, live entertainment while the stores stay open late and offer refreshments and holiday cheer.

Commitment to Excellence in Art & Sport: A Fine Art Competition and Exhibit
In September the Museum of Sports 4th annual international show will open at the New Canaan Historical Society. The National Art Museum of Sport was founded in 1959 by Germain Glidden, a Silvermine painter and athlete.
The Preview party will be on Saturday September 6th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Cost to attend $50 Reservations can be made by calling the society 203-966-1776
The Public Opening will be Sunday September 7th from 3:00 – 5:00 pm with an awards ceremony at 6:00pm

This year’s New Canaan July 4th celebration has been moved to Saturday, July 5th at Waveny Park. The New Canaan “Family Fourth” is always one of the premier events in town. The New Canaan Recreation Department in co-sponsorship with local New Canaan merchants will sponsor open air music concerts on the patio at Waveny House this summer. The concerts will feature a variety of musical groups many of whom are from the Fairfield County area. All of the concerts are open to New Canaan residents free of charge and held from 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening’s beginning in June. Concert rain dates are the next Thursday. Concert goers are welcome to bring a cold picnic supper to the park and enjoy the music.
