The annual Holiday Stroll has become a family favorite for New Canaan residents and those of our neighboring towns. Held on the weekend after Thanksgiving on December 5th and 6th, downtown New Canaan transforms into something out of a Dickens’s story book. Friday night kicks off with the arrival of Santa Claus, a lighting of the trees, carol singing, live entertainment while the stores stay open late and offer refreshments and holiday cheer.

This year’s parade will take place on Sunday October 26th. The parade kicks off with a family party in the Park Street Parking lot at Noon. Come get your Free goody bag show off your costume and enjoy a performance by the School of Rock.

It’s time for Harvest Fest! Bring your friends and join us as we sample a variety of beers, wine and gluten free beer this year from a variety of regional brewers, delicious food and live music under tents in the meadow at the New Canaan Nature Center.

Commitment to Excellence in Art & Sport: A Fine Art Competition and Exhibit

In September the Museum of Sports 4th annual international show will open at the New Canaan Historical Society. The National Art Museum of Sport was founded in 1959 by Germain Glidden, a Silvermine painter and athlete.

The Preview party will be on Saturday September 6th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Cost to attend $50 Reservations can be made by calling the society 203-966-1776

The Public Opening will be Sunday September 7th from 3:00 – 5:00 pm with an awards ceremony at 6:00pm

Let’s get cooking! New Canaan Library is pleased to host a special culinary event on Thursday, September 4, from 6 – 7:30 PM. Chef Silvia Baldini, founder of Strawberry and Sage, will demonstrate how to transform locally-grown, seasonal vegetables into elegant, healthy dishes for home entertaining. Analiese Paik, founder of Fairfield Green Food Guide, will give participants the inside track on resources for buying local and organic food and ingredients.

The Outback Teen Center has planned a 7 week Summer Camp for all kids from 4th-8th grade. With 20 programs being offered to kids with interests in Culinary Arts, Recording Studio Production, Arts & Crafts, Investments, Fashion Lab, Henna Art, Balloon Twisting, Canvas Art, Face Painting and much, much more. June 30- July 31 ( Monday-Thursday) & August 11-August 21 ( Monday-Thursday).

This year’s New Canaan July 4th celebration has been moved to Saturday, July 5th at Waveny Park. The New Canaan “Family Fourth” is always one of the premier events in town. Activities include picnicking, live music, food & drink stands… and of course, tons of fireworks! New Canaan Residents can purchase a pass for $30 in-person at the Recreation Department office in Waveny House or the First Selectman’s Office through July 3rd. Cash or Check and proof of residency required.

The New Canaan Recreation Department in co-sponsorship with local New Canaan merchants will sponsor open air music concerts on the patio at Waveny House this summer. The concerts will feature a variety of musical groups many of whom are from the Fairfield County area. All of the concerts are open to New Canaan residents free of charge and held from 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening’s beginning in June. Concert rain dates are the next Thursday. Concert goers are welcome to bring a cold picnic supper to the park and enjoy the music.

Come out on Saturday June 21st at 5:00 pm and enjoy a unique celebration of music, art and food in the Elm Street “alley”, just off of Elm Street where New Canaan Music is located, in charming Downtown, New Canaan, CT. The kick-off concert for “Sessions in the Alley -Volume 1 – “The Summer Soulstice”, will provide the town and residents of New Canaan and Fairfield County a truly unique experience of live music, art and food by transforming the alley into a fun filled live performance space!
