The Waveny Park Conservancy is pleased to host its kickoff fundraiser a Tailgate Party on Saturday, October 15th, 5 pm – 10:30 pm in Waveny Park. This special event, the first ever “tailgate” to be held at Waveny, is limited to the first 160 cars to register for parking spaces behind the Waveny House. Each car registration includes tickets for up to six people. Attendees should bring their own food and beverages – there will be prizes for the best tailgates. Cars will be admitted to the area between 4:30pm and 6 pm and spaces will be assigned on a first come first served basis. Parking spots will not be available for purchase the night of the event and no walk-ins will be permitted! Tickets are for two parking sections, Lloyd’s and Lapham’s. The Lloyd spaces will be for a donation of $500 per car and include a Waveny Conservancy Supporter Recognition. The Lloyd tickets will be available for purchase from noon on September 15th until they are sold out. Lapham spaces for $250 per car, will be subject to availability and tickets will go on sale beginning at noon on September 22nd until sold out. There is no assurance that Lapham tickets will be available!
The entirety of the donation is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, as no goods or services are being provided in exchange for the donation.
The event will feature Joe Scarborough’s band Morning Joe Music. Scarborough, the host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, has always been passionate about music. The composer of over 400 songs and a musical, Joe has spent the past year recording his latest songs with styles that echo Beck, Gram Parsons, and his idols, the Beatles, but 30 years and hundreds of songs later, the sound is distinctly “Joe.”
During the course of the evening, guests may gather around the large fire pit, while also viewing a live college football game on a giant screen to make the tailgate experience complete. A Giving Tree will provide guests the opportunity to support the Waveny Park Conservancy (WPC) further with specific projects. Before the concert, the Chairman of the WPC, Bob Seelert will briefly speak about the mission of the organization. The event is co-chaired by Scott Gress and Brock Saxe in partnership with the Town of New Canaan and the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce.
