The Dixie Swim Club is now playing at the Town Players of New Canaan’s Powerhouse Theater. There are still 5 more performances available to this very enjoyable and moving production. The Play focuses on five Southern women who met on their college swim team. They maintain their friendship through yearly beach weekend get-togethers. The actors bring audiences into four of those weekends. Fate throws life trials at each character and they rally through strength and love. This comedy is funny but still very poignant and yields some surprising directions.
The renowned Director, Carole Claps organized the very experienced cast of Deborah Burke, Kate Telfer, Ann Alford, Marcy Whitten and Janine Wolfe into truly memorable performances. This Production is as good as Community Theater can be. An enchanting set brings you into their retreat on South Carolina’s Outer Banks. The Technical Stage work allows you to escape into their world.
The Powerhouse Theater is located in beautiful Waveny Park, close to the Mansion. This very unique historic venue is air-conditioned with ample free and easy parking. The Town Players was formed in 1946 by professional actors with local talent and supporters.
