Postponed due to weather! New Date: March 25th
Put your glad rags on, knock twice on the secret door and whisper the password! New Canaan Library invites you to get in on the fun as it kicks off One Book New Canaan, the community’s month-long exploration of Bill Bryson’s One Summer; America, 1927, by transforming the Lamb Room into a genuine Prohibition-era speakeasy on Thursday, March 5 from 6:00 – 8:30 PM (Postponed due to weather! New Date: March 25th). Tickets are $15, can be purchased online at newcanaanlibrary.org and will reveal the secret password that lets you start “putting on the Ritz.”
Get into the swing of things at the Speakeasy, with live jazz piano and music from the 20s and tastings of delicious food and beverages from many New Canaan and local businesses. Partnering with the Library are ONEHOPE Wine, the Chamber of Commerce, South End, GRASSRXO0TS, Carpe Diem, Forever Sweet Bakery, Fjord Fish Market, Walter Stewart’s Market, Charter Oak Brewery, New Canaan Wine Merchants, New Canaan Olive Oil, and Little’s Specialty Foods, among others.
ONEHOPE Wine is a cause-centric enterprise offering wine produced in partnership with Rob Mondavi, Jr. Wines. ONEHOPE donates 50% of its proceeds to partner causes; specifically for this event to Breast Cancer research, Autism initiatives, and PAWS. New Canaan resident and fund-raiser P.J. Marcella will help support the Speakeasy in the role of Special Events Chair for ONEHOPE Wine. In addition, ONEHOPE will donate 15% of proceeds from wine sold that evening to New Canaan Library.
Drop in for part of the evening or stay for the duration – it’s guaranteed to be the cat’s meow!
