Susan Swick Morrow, owner of SwickPix, LLC has been a professional photographer, specializing in portraits of children and families, since 1987. Three of her pictures have been published worldwide on Avanti greeting cards.
After receiving a business degree at University of Connecticut and then working in the retail industry in New York City, Ms. Morrow found her “true” calling in her childhood passion-photography. As she says, “I was unfulfilled in the corporate world and knew I wanted to be more creative. I had loved taking photos since I was a young girl when my grandfather gave me his Brownie camera.” After 10 years of studying photography both in class and in the field, she became a full-time photographer.
Ms. Morrow works with families from all over the country and the world. Even when families move away from New Canaan they return to have her continue the tradition of photographing their family. She is now capturing a “new generation” of clients. “It is my greatest joy to have children that I photographed, grow up and continue their family’s photographic heritage with me”.
In addition to her studio portraits, Susan works with many of her customers to capture beautiful moments at their homes, in some of New Canaan’s local parks and at Fairfield County’s local beaches. Susan also provides destination photography for her clients at their vacation spots and homes.
As an experienced professional photographer, Ms. Morrow has taught several studio and location workshops to professionals from all over the country. She has also lectured to the Connecticut Professional Photographers Association and is a member of the Professional Photographers Association of America.
Ms. Morrow grew up in New Canaan and returned to live and work there in 2000. As a tribute to her hometown, she recently published “The Next Station to Heaven,” a photo essay in book form.
